Scones and Jam

Slightly golden crust. Crumbly texture. Not dry, but begging to be paired with tea. This is the quintessential scone and jam that must be experienced while visiting England. My personal opinion is that tea and scones are best enjoyed while visiting Stratford. Your ideal visit to this charming city will include a stroll along the cobbled streets, a visit to the weekend street markets, and a stop to see the gardens at Anne Hathaway’ Cottage. The scone must be larger than your fist, the jam spilling out of its dish, and the clotted cream too thick to describe. Add a piping hot pot of back tea and suddenly you are transported to another time and place. You will leave warmed to the bone and with your sweet tooth satisfied. Something about drinking tea in Stratford gives me hope that writer’s osmosis can transcend time and I will be flooded with brilliant writing ideas from my first sip of tea.
